RAM phone mount and Mpow Bluetooth Receiver for Spyder F3-T

Now that I have a sport touring version of the canam spyder, decided to invest in a phone mount. The mount goes on the handle bar essentially giving easy access to the phone to view a map or play music. In order to stream music from the phone to the spyder’s radio system, need a bluetooth receiver.

So after some research, bought the Ram Mounts RAM-B-149Z-UN7U Handlebar Rail Mount with U-Bolt Base and Universal X-Grip Cell Phone Holder, Zinc Coated and also the Mpow Bluetooth Receiver Streambot Hands-free & Wireless Car Kits for Home/Car Audio Stereo System.

I installed it towards the right side of the handle near the engine kill switch and used the wider of the 2 U-bolt base along with the adapter that came in the kit. After installing the base in place, the 2 bolts did loose color. I eventually did use a black sharpie marker just sparingly to fill in a little black. The black of the sharpie marker is not the same shade as the black of the bolts so don’t overdo it as it will show. Install the 2 plastic caps over the U-bolt ends.

Once that was secured in place, it was just a matter of attaching the phone cradle to the ball mount. Slip in the black rubber grip from the back of the phone cradle before attaching the phone cradle to the ball mount on the handlebar.

The rubber holders on the cradle can be super-glued. There is a glue stick that comes in the kit, use either that or any other super-glue like loctite. The one that comes in the kit is very strong, so be very careful, and make sure it does not spill on your skin or any of the motorcycle plastic or parts as once on its not going to come off.

That’s it phone mount is installed.

The bluetooth receiver install is very simple. In my case just had to connect the USB cable that came with the device to the USB connector already present in the glove compartment above the odometer cluster. This provides power to the bluetooth receiver. Connect the spyder’s in-built audio connector to the audio port on the bluetooth receiver.

Just turn on the bluetooth of your cell phone first, and then turn on the bluetooth receiver, the Mpow Bluetooth Receiver can be automatically paired. Have to hold down the play button for a few seconds in order to see the blue light.
